It’s 5:30 p.m. and dinner is on the table, the dinner that you spent the last hour lovingly making for your family. That is when the battle begins, the battle to get your kids to eat their vegetables. You play it cool at first, making comments like “wow, have you tried this cauliflower? Its sooo good!” Or “these beets are amazing, you should really try them!” or even “did you know that carrots give you the ability to see better in the dark? It could be your superpower!” Nothing is working. So, you start bargaining with them, making deals with them, downright pleading to get them to just take ONE BITE! Sometimes, this works. Sometimes, you are left with an entire bowl of brussel sprouts that no one has touched. So what do you do?
First, BE PERSISTENT! There is plenty of evidence to show that children will not try a new food until they have been exposed to the food up to 10 times. So keep it up and keep it fun!! One day, your child will try it, and hopefully they will love it.
Second, make them yummy. There are so many vegetables that can be hidden inside delicious shakes! Cauliflower, beets, carrots and leafy greens are just some of the vegetables that blend well with KidzShake! Another added bonus is that they will also be consuming protein, probiotics, vitamins, and most likely various fruits in those shakes as well.
I’ve compiled a list of sixteen of our delicious KidzShake recipes that have hidden ingredients inside. So go ahead, try them out and see what happens! Then, give yourself a high five for getting your kids to eat their vegetables.
